These Anvil Secateurs are ideal for tough, woody and general pruning.

Anvil blades help to reduce the strain on the wrist when cutting older, thicker stems. The blade closes against a softer metal on the lower jaw which avoids unnecessary stress on the hand. This does not produce such a clean cut as bypass secateurs, but this is not so important on older growth.

These robust pruners are suitable for regular use and ideal for a larger sized hand. The ergonomically designed handles have an integrated thumb rest for safety. They have an internal spring mechanism and a central locking mechanism.

The non-stick blade can cut through stems up to 25mm thick and the upper blade is fully replaceable.

Great but flawed

The first pair I bought I had to send back because they didn't close properly. The replacement secateurs were brilliant for a year or two, but then the internal spring gave out, and the blade began to bend and chip. Admittedly I gave them really hard use, and they were fantastic for cutting flax, which bypass secateurs are not good at, but they didn't last as long as I'd hoped. That said, I bought a new pair because nothing else is as good. I might go easy on hard wooden twigs so that they last longer.
